Midway Contemporary Art relocates to Northeast Minneapolis this January

Midway Contemporary Art relocates to Northeast Minneapolis this January.
After five successful years of hosting group and solo exhibitions in the Prospect Park and St. Anthony Park neighborhoods, Midway Contemporary Art is moving to the burgeoning new arts district of Northeast Minneapolis. The new gallery will be housed in a one-story warehouse located in the heart of the Marcy Homes neighborhood at the junction of East Hennepin and Central Avenues. This new location offers visitors an accessible, street-level facility with expanded parking lot for guests.
“Midway is grateful for the support and patronage of the residents and businesses of our current neighborhood over the past five years and we are saddened to leave St. Anthony Park and Prospect Park,” said Midway Director John Rasmussen. “But we are ecstatic about our new home in a Twin Cities neighborhood that is quickly becoming known for its galleries, artists and arts organizations. We look forward to continuing to provide arts lovers from around the metro area with exciting exhibitions and other cultural offerings.”
The new gallery space is currently under renovation and will open in late January with a solo presentation of new work from St. Paul based painter Bruce Tapola.

Mission: Midway Contemporary Art is a not-for-profit gallery committed to encouraging innovation and diversity in the visual arts. A public platform, Midway supports emerging and underrepresented artists, contributes toward significant new developments in the field, and stimulates the ongoing public discourse of art and culture.
Since opening in January 2001, the not-for-profit gallery Midway Contemporary Art has presented the work of many talented emerging artists. The gallery provides free exhibitions to the public, produces and commissions new projects from emerging artists and has begun publishing catalogs in partnerships with publishing houses in Europe. With more than 170 artists having exhibited over the past five years, Midway has continued to identify some of the most challenging and engaging art created in the United States and abroad. This summer, London’s Contemporary magazine heralded Midway as “one of the most important and innovative galleries in the Midwest.”
