Arts Writing from Mn, Beyond Mn
This series by Mecca Bos is about Black female artistry, and how identity informs art. We discuss these themes while cooking a dish of personal significance to each artist. Mecca landed on this work after searching for ways to merge her hyphenate occupations of food writer and chef. Over the years, she has found that cooking and eating with interesting people is her idea of perfect joy. Conducting interviews over cooking and dining sessions gives her a sense of a subject’s personality that could never be achieved while simply sitting across a table together. Mecca seeks to champion and uplift all BIPOC voices, in particular the perspectives of Black women.
