Sam Aros Mitchell (he/him/his) is an enrolled member with the Texas Band of Yaqui Indians. In April of 2020, he relocated to the Twin Cities (Dakhóta and Anishinaabeg land) and was among the first cohort of Native artist fellows at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis to serve as Native Directing Fellow. Recently, as an actor, Sam performed with Toot Performance in the film The Premise of Gripping the Wall When You’re Upset. Sam appeared in Rosy Simas short film, yödoishëndahgwa’geh. Sam will be performing in January of 2022 with Rosy Simas Danse at the Judson Church, NYC. Sam’s publishing company, Aros and Son Publishing, has published a collection of poetry titled, Longview Road, written by Yaqui poet and writer, Manny Monolin. Sam has a PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies from the joint doctoral program at UC San Diego/UC Irvine. www.samarosmitchell.com
