Marcela Michelle is a transdisciplinary artist, educator, and producer. Her work has been presented by Walker Art Center’s Choreographer’s Evening, Red Eye Theater’s NW4W Works in Progress, Guthrie Theatre’s Dowling Studio, Patrick’s Cabaret, Queertopia, the Minneapolis Burlesque Festival, Dykes do Drag, and the Minnesota Museum of American Art. She is the Executive Artistic Director of Lightning Rod and the former Artistic Director of 20% Theatre Company. Recent residencies include Tofte Lake Center, Rosy Simas Dance three thirty one studio, Pancake House, and as a Hennepin Theatre Trust Teaching Artist. She is a Q-Stage fellow, a mentee of the National Institute for Directing and Ensemble Creation, a recipient of the City of Minneapolis Creative Response Fund, and a Jerome Hill Artist Fellow in the inaugural Combined Artistic Fields class of 2023-2025.
