The Walker Youngbird Artist Grant
Walker Youngbird Foundation (Washington, DC)
Through the foundation’s artist grant program, Native American and Indigenous artists are provided with financial support, mentorship, and a dedicated showcase celebrating a completed project.
Applications close February 19, 2025.
- Grant: $15,000 grant over a six month period to fund the creation of an innovative new project.
- Mentorship: Monthly check-ins to support artist’s progress as they work to complete the project.
- Showcases: Two special events showcasing work to curators, collectors, and leaders in the arts.
Eligbility
- 18 years or older
- Currently reside in the United States
- An enrolled member or citizen of a US federally-recognized or state-recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native corporation, of Native Hawaiian ancestry, or of the First Nations of Canada. Documentation must be provided.
- Practicing artist working in the disciplines of one of the following:
2D visual arts | 3D visual arts | Video arts | Multi-Disciplinary arts | Traditional arts
Grant Guidelines
Funds can be used for materials, studio space, travel for research, or any other resources necessary to create a new project.
Artists should be prepared to provide photos, video, and general updates of their progress so that we can share their journey.
Tips:
- We’re looking for artists with work grounded in tradition, and innovative in execution.
