Our River: Mississippi Muse is a juried exhibition sponsored by Friends of the Mississippi River in partnership with F-O-K Creatives. Artists whose work relates to the river are invited to submit. A portion of all artwork sales will be contributed to Friends of the Mississippi River.
It all starts here. Minnesota is home to the headwaters of the 2,350-mile river, which connects us to millions downstream. Twin Cities residents get their drinking water from the river, drive across each day and recreate on the water. We each have our own story about the Mississippi River, and we are excited for people to experience the river through the eyes of local artists.

Friends of the Mississippi River engages people to protect, restore and enhance the Mississippi River and its watershed in the Twin Cities region. Learn more about this non-profit organization here. A portion of the sale artwork from this exhibition will go to support the mission of Friends of the Mississippi River.
F-O-K Studios is located on the West Side of St. Paul across from Harriet Island near the banks of the majestic river and home to the Friends of the Mississippi River. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors featuring working artists studios which are open throughout the year for First Fridays and bi-annually during the St. Paul Art Crawl. Guidelines
- Application fee: $10
- A jury will select works based on the professionalism of the artist, the works relationship to the river, and the quality of the work. The jury is five members, artists, board members, and/or employees, connected to Friends of the Mississippi River.
- Only one artwork per artist may be submitted.
- Preference for artworks is up to 4 feet wide and wired to be hung on wall. 3-D sculptural works and larger pieces will need to be reviewed by the jury and accepted based on space constraints.
- Artist notification date: September 1, 2025
- Drop-off date: November 15, 2025, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Exhibition dates: December 1 – 19, 2025 with a special donor preview on December 4 and public opening during First Friday, December 5
- Pick-up date: December 20, 2025 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
