Diane studied journalism and studio arts as an undergraduate at the University of Minnesota. She was an enthusiastic figurative painter, but before she got really good at that, she found she could make a living writing about art. She did for 20 years years, starting at the Minnesota Daily and ending at the Pioneer Press. She edited at Minnesota Monthly and Utne Reader.
Spurred by newspaper industry decline, she earned a master’s degree in landscape architecture at the U of M. She has worked at engineering firms since 2000, and continues to write for local and national publications while keeping an eye on the arts..
Diane is an organizing member in Don’t You Feel It Too?, an experimental public dance practice, and has performed with Vanessa Voskuil and Mad King Thomas She is a board member at Permaculture Reserch Institute Cold Climate.
