Human x Machine: Exploring Art in the Age of AI
Phipps Center for the Arts (Hudson, WI)

The Phipps Center for the Arts invites artists to submit work for Human x Machine: Exploring Art in the Age of AI, an exhibition that examines the intersections of creativity, technology, and humanity that will take place in the Phipps galleries, September 12-November 2, 2025. This exhibition will include a wide range of perspectives on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the artistic process, from the full embrace of generative AI to artwork that pointedly rejects any AI interventions. The show will explore themes of collaboration, innovation, ethics, and identity.
We welcome submissions from artists working in all media, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, digital art, photography, printmaking, drawing, fiber, ceramics, video, and installation. Work may incorporate AI tools as part of the creative process, respond critically to AI’s growing presence in art, or reflect on the broader societal, cultural, environmental implications of artificial intelligence.
Themes/topics to consider:
- How do you engage with AI technology? Does your work embrace it, or reject it? Are you using generative AI or AI tools in your process?
- What does human-machine collaboration look like in artmaking?
- What does authorship mean in the age of AI? Do you address the ideas of originality and authenticity in your artwork?
- Is the blending of organic and synthetic aesthetics part of your art practice?
- How do you reflect on the future of creativity in an AI-driven world?
Human X Machine will include public events and feature a panel discussion about the transformative influence of artificial intelligence on artistic practice.
