Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) is hiring a Director of Exhibitions & Artist Programs! A key member of MCBA’s leadership team, the Director of Exhibitions & Artist Programs manages the following:
Artist Development Programs
- The McKnight Book Arts Fellowship Program: Funded by the McKnight Foundation, this annual program provides two $25,000 awards to two mid-career Minnesota book artists, as well as additional professional development support during the fellowship year.
- Jerome Mentorship and Residency Programs: Funded by the Jerome Foundation, and offered in alternate years, these programs award a stipend, studio access, educational opportunities, and an exhibition to three Minnesota-based, early career artists annually.
- MCBA’s Artist Collective, a group of 20+ emerging and established artists who receive 24/7 studio access, an annual exhibition, and opportunities to build artistic community.
- Other artist access programs, including an annual MCBA/MCAD Collegiate Fellowship.
The Director of Exhibitions & Artist Programs also facilitates 8-12 exhibitions annually at Minnesota Center for Book Arts (4-6 annual exhibitions in the Main Gallery, as well as 4-6 exhibitions in the Outlook Gallery, an installation space facing Washington Avenue). Primary tasks include exhibition curation, layout, and design; artist communication and coordination of work; and leading exhibit installation and de-installation. In collaboration with MCBA’s leadership team, this position will schedule future exhibitions, and provide curatorial, organizational, and logistical support including the creation of calls for art, shipping and receiving of works, and developing content for marketing and promotions.
Important note: While some elements of this position may be performed remotely, the person in this position will need to be available to work onsite in our building and offices. We have COVID-19 safety measures in place to support staff health, including required mask-wearing and social distancing.
Salary and benefits
